Carry Me Home

(j.poet)
2006-08-01
Words: Charles Bordin & j. poet; Music: j. poet
I am the fruit of the orchard.
I am the grape on the vine.
I am the ripening tree that's standing all alone.
When I call you to come to me,
It will be at harvest time,
You can gather me into your arms and carry me home.

Carry me home, carry me home,
Gather me into your welcoming, sheltering warm
Carry me home, come on and carry me home
Gather me into your sunshine, and carry me home.

I'm the survivor of Eden.
I'm the remainder of Troy.
I'm all that's left of the glory that once was Rome.
When the earth begins to shake,
You don't have to be afraid,
I'll gather you into my arms, and carry you home.

I've been crossin' a river,
I've been climbin' a hill,
I've been out, just tryna make it on my own.
but bein' lost ain't bein' free,
and if ya feel the same as me,
you can gather me into your arms, and carry me home.

I am the rippling river.
I am the trickling stream.
I am the ocean wave that's covered with foam.
When you're riding in your sailing ship,
You don't have to be afraid of me,
I'll gather you into my arms, and carry you home.
